Case Study: Mobile-First E-commerce Optimisation for Greensides Garden Centre
Following a presentation at the Horticultural Trade Association Best Business Practices Forum – co-presented by HTA President William Armitage and our Managing Director Mike Anderson – we delivered insight-led recommendations on digital marketing, loyalty and site optimisation.
Those recommendations proved pivotal for Greensides Garden Centre, providing the catalyst they needed to upgrade their underperforming website. With over 50% of customers now researching before purchase – and 70% of that activity taking place on mobile – the centre’s mobile experience was no longer fit for purpose.
The Challenge
Greensides’ existing site was built on the Wix platform, presenting technical constraints that ruled out a full rebuild without significant cost and disruption. The mobile user journey, in particular, was restricting browsing, enquiries and online purchases.
Our Approach
Rather than recommending a costly redesign from scratch, we adopted a pragmatic, results-driven strategy. By working within the limitations of the platform, we focused on:
- Improving the mobile home page experience
- Streamlining the complete user journey
- Enhancing navigation, enquiry flow and product discovery
- Laying scalable foundations for future e-commerce growth
While there were platform restrictions that prevented full optimisation, the new experience is dramatically improved—making browsing, enquiring and purchasing significantly easier for customers.
The Results
Greensides now has a far stronger mobile-first website experience, improved customer engagement, and a solid foundation to build its e-commerce and loyalty proposition with confidence.
